How to import data

There are two possible sources of data: PDB and local files.

Import from PDB

In the main toolbar, locate the "PDB button"
Click it, enter the PDB ID. Model and experimental data will be downloaded from the PDB. Several things may go wrong.
  1. Program complains about the absence of cif2mtz. Most likely this means that you have not configured CCP4 properly prior to starting ShakErr.
  2. Program reports that downloading from the PDB failed. Check if your network is up and running and if you have a correct PDB ID.
  3. Program reports that model was downloaded but not the experimental data. Check that the PDB ID you are trying to download actually has experimental data deposited and that it is not an NMR model.

Local import

In the main toolbar, locate the import button (green downward arrow)
You'll be prompted to choose the pdb- and mtz-files to import. If there is more than one column in the mtz-file with amplitudes, you would have to choose the one which corresponds to Fo. If everything goes well, the project will appear in the list.
